3D works in Gaming

I have always wondered how 3D works in gaming and how they get games to work how they want. There is not a full grasp of how gaming company like Rockstar manage to get the characters look realistic and move so well. I want to know how the motion capture suits are used for movements and would like to understand how they actually work on the body, why gaming companies use them and how are they are beneficial. My main focus of all is the software, I want to know what software is commonly used in the gaming industry and how does it work, how do the gamers work and what are their requirements, do they need to meet any? These are the quests I ask my self, I have always played games and been fascinated by how the characters move and act, mainly I have wondered what it takes to make a game. I want to find out because, I personally want to understand how games work, so that I have a knowledge of what it takes to be a games designer, games is not my career choice but I would like to understand how they work and what is need to produce a great game.

Part making of SSX below:

I watch videos that talked about the making of  the SSX and the process which has gone into making it what it is now. The reason for watching this was to get a general idea of what the process are that go into making a game from designing to making. This builds me and my understanding so that I am able to progress further in the terms of understanding animation and how big it is as an industry. I have learnt there are so many people who work on different aspects similar to the method of animators with an animation company.
