Thought Bubble convention

These are a couple of photos for the Thought Bubble comic convention, this is a hobby of mine and I also like to draw my own short comic strips in my own time and develop characters to suit my stories it has been something I have been doing before I started graphic design, in the future I aspire to develop my own comic story along with animations.

BAF notes

BAF notes from peter lord talk and how he became a legend with animation, he talked about how he started out at the age of 17 filming and modeling all his characters from plasticine e.g. morph to now working with mechanical skeletons and replaceable face in a growing company now called "Ardman" a name Peter nick named a BBC TV presenter.

Few notes from some animations watched on the first day, they were generally alright but some seemed very boring and lacked excitement due to artwork and content.

Japanese animation on the representation of women by Nebuaki Doi, demonstrated men animation and women animation based on the perception of women, stereotypes, sexism, representation and appearance.

Notes from talk about Strange Hill high and how it was made, the functionality of the puppets and what processes and methods are taking into consideration before animating, like talking through different acts and scenes and the animation achievements. The actors Doc Martin, Richard Ayoade and Emma Kennedy.

Copyright

This PPP session was all about copy righting and what guidelines we must follow when using music in our animated videos and what symbols we were to be aware of, that could be of great use to us in the future as we progress on our course. We have to think about placing our animations on public websites e.g. Facebook, Pinterest etc because my very own animation could be pirated and taken which would lead to going court to reclaim my own work back. There is also the option of putting your work on to a copyrighted website so that people can borrow it but will not be able to claim it for themselves, I would never mind people glorifying to others and showing of what you have done but there comes a certain point where you must stop them from send your work away or it falling into the wrong hands.

SWITCH. A short film by Tyson Hesse

An animation called click, basically this animation is about a boy who discovers that a switch in his bedroom causes things to appears when its being flicked on and off. I don't know too much about the animator but I just happened to be browsing the web/youtube and managed to find this, I really like the design of the characters, I feel its similar to my style. I want to draw ways of making my animated characters look more like it in colour contrast and style, the effects are great and I think who ever thought of this is amazing.

Flash intro

Flash introduction, think it is an alright package but will not use it in the future for anythingI feel that it involves too many shapes and after a while shapes feel boring to me. I prefer actual body figures and characters I can configure at using my own imagination, that is why I use photoshop. I do not like the whole fact you can see line movement behind every you place on this package, very annoying.

~Burnt Toast~ Animation

This is an animation by youtube artist called Jordan Persegati, draws a lot of cartoons and anime collages using famous characters and some of his own made up characters which are sometimes can be badly drawn. This cartoon is not the best but it demonstrates some of the 12 principles of animation e.g. stretching and squashing, the animation could do with a lot of improving, the background is blank and the character is disfigured and developed inaccurately, the movements are very slow.

Please! Teacher

Please! Teacher is a very funny anime, I have been watching lately. It is based on a boy who witnesses a space craft land in a lake when he is on a walk through the woods, he later on finds out the person that was flying the craft was his new High School teacher. I have currently watch only two episodes so far but I am finding them to be really funny and full of surprises, the characters are very lively and entertaining to watch. The movement of the characters are very clean and they seem almost like real people in cartoon form, the main characters foster parents are very hysterical especially his father when he happens to see his new female teacher.
