Tattoo

Tattoo design
I designed this tattoo for a client who wanted a specific design with knifes and she was very happy with the final out come the whole compositions was not thought out, it was just very expressive based on subjective feelings and thoughts, so I translated this into a piece because I just imaged something dark based on what she wanted.

Elevated Minds logo

This is another logo for a business called Elevated Minds this is a Logo that is currently being developed because the business is just starting out so I will be constantly designing for customers because they are a fan of my work and they want me to design for them permanently. The customer wants a design which is different to the popular logo designs in the clothing industry so I have tried to incorporate the ideas of minds being elevated by using the colour yellow and the image of a bulb. This idea was generated through my concept of the brain being like a light bulb which you can turn on and off, when its on its bright and very active, when off its dead because your no longer thinking. I wanted this idea to be translated in to my designs, I just want to be experimental and design something clever and different to the obvious ideas out in the open world, no clothing company uses a light bulb as far as I know because it does not seem to be something which would suite general clothing but I personally think that it would work for my client because it original and not many people have it. As I am talking about style and colour for my essay, I have noticed that I have decide to use the colour yellow which is the symbol of positive emotions, I want the final logo to reflect a sense of positivity and happiness.

Logo design

This is design work for a clients logo, they want me to design a logo based around the all seeing Egyptian eye. the above logo was said to be too detailed for what he wanted because he was planning to make it simple and wants his final designs to be placed on to clothing. so I created this design based on something which he drew up rough as seen below. F1G is the name of his music group and it stands for Fly Guys, Fly in slang just means "cool, in style".

Contacts at thought bubble

I plan to set up a stall at Thought Bubble sometime in the future to sell my work, when attending thought bubble I will be talking to all the different artist as I always do when I attended because I want to get tips on how to improve my work and the thinks that will make me a better artist. I will be looking  out for the new and up coming artists to find out how they have progressed. The reason for this is because I want to get an insight into how I can set up my own personal business and what is required to become a really good artist.

Clothing art prints

I am currently designing for a client called Kirk, he is setting up his own clothing range and has asked me to design for him I am charging him £50 per design, Right now I have already designed two T-shirts for him so I am due £100 by the end of this month, so I will not be releasing the artwork to the customer until I get paid first. Whilst working for my self I have been learning self worth and I am no longer going to under sell myself, most of the time my work has been taken for granted, people  have not payed me and wasted my time regularly in the past. The approach now is to hold onto my designs until people finally pay me for my work.

The design below is based on my likes, I am a fan of psychedelic visuals and colours because I like to experiment and these visuals are varied and very expressive So I like to apply a lot of multi colours to my work. The piece was very random there was no reason behind its creation, it is just an experimental piece, I have just played around with varied colours and effect to create weird and trip visuals, this will be going on a Jersey.

Cover art for a client

I have currently been working on a EP cover for a client, I have not finished. This was an illustration brief but I approached this short project using some of the skills I have developed from animation based on analysing the brief. This brief was approached as if it was as a professional business brief I attained all the requirements and demands and translated these points into to the final piece which was highly appreciated by the client themselves.

Colourful animation

I am working on my own personal animation in relation to the work I have been doing for COP 3 and Extended Practice 3, I am really in to multicoloured and psychedelic artwork I love the use of colours and the multiple colours and animator who has inspired this idea is Adam Fuchs/Lil Fuchs and animator who works with Psychedelic colours and images. He worked on Flying lotus's Zodiac Shit track, those visuals in which he provided where very psychedelic, colourful and illusive. I think music is my biggest inspiration for my work because I like to listen to a lot of Experimental and instrumental Hip Hop music which evokes a Psychedelic feeling, I personally start to imagine multiple colours and expressively weird visuals. E.g. Flying Lotus is an artist who work with experimental Hip Hop, the beat with in his music are varied, expressive and very scattered because there is never the same rhythm or cowries with in his music, it changes very often these beats are what make me imagine certain colours, images and gets me feeling a certain way to create a piece. I want to translate this feeling into an animation just to see what other people experience, asking the question do they see what I see ?

For my business, I am planning to make it official by creating an agreement form and invoice, I have created a agreement form, but it is not correctly set up. I was given a formed template to follow so that I can create a final and official form for my business. The purpose of this is to provide my business with solidarity so that my clients don't breach any agreements made.

Business, EP cover DAY 1

I am currently have been asked to develop some cover art for another client, he says that my work is admired by him and he would like me to develop a cover for his up and coming Ep album. I will be making a start on this tomorrow and my charging price will be £150 because the amount of detail he wants will take about two days to work on.

Business work T-shirt print design for clinet

For my business I do freelance design work for people, I was recently asked by someone to design a few T-shirt prints, I am charging £50 per design because the client has made me their official designer which means that they want me to design regularly for their clothing brand, this person will be paying me weekly based on the amount of designs I do a week. This person is based in leeds and is starting out, I have been given the expressive freedom to do as I wish so he is open to any designs I create. Everyone who follows me including other animators and illustrators really like my work, I am always getting various complements and many likes from people around the world, I get regular shout outs about my account and many people are very attracted to my work because they think my style is unique. Every day doing what I love excites me because my drawing style is developing into a form of identification of my own and I am really happy with it because my drawings in the past were very substandard and I did not like my drawing style because I believed that I could do a lot better.

Interesting art piece which inspire me

I found this abstract artwork on Instagram, its on _dankmermaid2232_ who likes to post a lot of abstract work, she has a like for abstract and the colours purple and blue. I have questioned her taste in art, for my dissertation research, because I wanted to understand what colours people liked, how it made them feel and what style of artwork they liked to look at. She stated "attracted to abstract, space art & graphic design, my fav colours are blue & purple, blue has always been my fav color, it makes me feel bubbly & full of good energy, purple make me feel calm & serene" She one of the contact I make with in a America because I like to illustrate for people world wide and have followers from many different countries.

The reason for following her page is because she post a lot of interesting pieces on abstract art which I have a real interest in because I like working with this concept my self. Her posts are very abstarct and are being used to help inspire an animation idea I have for Cop3, my question is all about how Aesthetic, colour and style communicate to an audience with feels and emotion so I am planning to produce an abstract piece which works with this idea and I plan to have a audience note down what they feel when they look at my animated work.

Outlining, Inking, drawing and animating

Inking is something I am passionate about, I like how bold it makes my work look. The images stand out and my line work is really defined its my form of identity as a up and coming Animator/Graphic Illustration artist I analyse other peoples work to help me with developing my own style and I like to experiment because I believe it helps me come up with more abstract exciting and expressive ideas. A I like to watch and observe some the work in which my friend called Oscar Barany does, he too is a up and coming Animator and he works with very abstract colours, shapes and images. I like Oscars work for use of colour and the way in which it is animated.

Christmas projection mapping brief

For the Christmas projection mapping brief we were given a task to create concept work for an projection animation, this would be later used on Christmas day as a projection for a building.

I worked in a group with Max, Wing, Callum and Greta because this task would work better if we worked as a unified team. This was done so that we could share ideas to help each other with an approach to the project.

My idea was based on a girl who blows bubbles which bounce around on screen and flash between the three colours I used which were; Green, blue and red these colours are three of the colours which we were restricted to use. the objective was to create a piece of animation that avoided the use of iconic Christmas imagery e.g. Santa because it would be regarded as your usual Christmas symbol, I needed to take an abstract approach to this brief so decided create a concept board for an idea which would have no relation to Christmas. The colours are the only link to the idea of Christmas, the character and bubbles are just abstract images which I have created as a experiment because I wanted to do something fun and unusual which would surprise the audience rather than disappoint them.

Inktober

"Every October, artists all over the world take on the InkTober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month. I created InkTober in 2009 as a challenge to improve my inking skills and develop positive drawing habits."
"I created InkTober in 2009 as a challenge to improve my inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year."
I am taking part in this year Inktober personally because the themes this year sound very interesting and I am a fan of inked work, My style is based on used ink, pencil and Photoshop. The choice of words seem very fun, I also have plenty ideas and want to use this challenge as a tool for practising my drawing skills.

Instagram

I having been building my Instagram followers and I am now at "997", this is because of my frequent art posts. My page is followed by a lot of fans who admire my work, I have received payed work from different people in other countries, they have been very impressed with my skills and now follow me, messaging my profile with new up coming work.

I am using Instagram to grow my business because it can be used as a tool for work and I am able to reach out to many different people. My idea is to build a business which offers services to people who need Graphic Illustrations, logo designs and Animations. I am getting many requests for paid work, the next objective which I now focus on is getting some of my illustrative pieces printed to sell in picture frames I am currently looking at paces which offer printing services for a suitable price so that I can start selling my work.

Festivals

      Thought Bubble

Manchester Animation Festival logo

For my PPP blog I will be attending both MAF and Thought bubble to build an understanding of my profession. I want to know more about the practitioners both in the Animation and Illustration industry, the tips they could provide me with to help develop my visual Animation and Illustrating skills.

I would consider my self as an enthusiastic artist with a passion for aesthetic, colour, styles and visuals. The topic I am covering with in my essay is focused on Aesthetic and how it communicates to an audience, to help me with primary research for my work, I think that a festival for arts will be a great place to retrieve information from practitioners who work with a lot of visuals to see the difference in opinion.

I am a fan of Studio Triggers work and have enjoyed watching Kill La Kill. It is a action packed anime with a strong use of colour and a unique story plot. The art work is both very well detailed and fun to look at. I like it for the reason being that it is an anime which is different, a lot of anime I have previously watched has been very childish and has over sexually represented women, even though this piece features a few skimpy costumes it is more looked at for its plot and not the way in which the characters are styled or presented.

Zodiac Shit

This is a music video for a beat producer called Flying Lotus. The Name of the video is Zodiac Shit and the animation was produced by an Animator/Illustrator called Adam Fuchs who is also known Lilfuchs. I am a big fan of both Flying Lotus for his music and Adam Fuchs for his style of animation, I love his use of vibrant colours and the style of animation for its outline work and compostion, I take a lot of inspiration from how he animates because I am a fan of animated music videos and the messages behind them when interacting with a sound track, I apply and experiment with the blended colour methods in which he uses in his animated video on to my own work for me to develop a technique of colour blending and communication.

Utomaru

After researching into Japanese art, I came across an artist called Utomaru. A lot of the artwork she produces features a strong use of colour, I personally think each piece communicates various feelings and the pictures in which she illustrates are very well composed in sense of style and Aesthetic. Her work reminds me of Yusuke Nakamura because she illustrates a lot of her characters side on the same way in which Nakamura illustrates his own work. Her outlines are very well drawn and neatly presented, this is a small area in my work in which I personally need to brush up on.

199 Xmau

Mau Lencias also known as 199 Xmas is an Argentinian Illustrator/Animator who specialises in creating visuals which communicate with audiences. His work communicates a lot of mix messages because he tries to fuse two different cultures to create his pieces, his work is inspired by both Japanese and Urban culture, I talked to him through Instagram about his work and he said he liked both the Japanese and urban culture, he said his biggest inspiration was gangs, Japan, urban street wear and clothing brand logos. This is why he uses a lot of Japanese ornaments, stickers branding and urban clothing, this is most likely to communicate his passion for the cultures in which he likes. I am a big fan of his work mainly for his consistent use of red and how he fuses both urban and Japanese culture together, I think it is because I also my self am influenced by Japanese culture and love urban culture, streetwear and cloth branding which is a sector I am really interested in. His work really reminds me of the Japanese animated film Akira, maybe it is also something he is inspired by.

Anna Cattish

This artist which I found online is called Anna Cattish, she in an illustrator who draws a lot of cartoon like characters, her style reminds me of Jamie Hewlett's. Based on the circular and thin shape of her characters, my assumption is that she is trying to make her characters look soft and friendly. I like her use of colour and the style in which she draws, I have never seen any style like hers before it is different and unique in its approach. Each character she draws is bright and vibrant, the aesthetic and poses in which characters provide help communicate a mixture of different messages. I look at her work mainly for colour and line work because she inks very well and here use of colour is both nicely blended and well considered based on the type of character in which she draws.

Yusuke Nakamura

Yusuke nakamura is a Japanese Illustrator from Osaka, Japan. He specialises in Graphic Illustration, the aesthetic of his work has a very interesting composition of colour and neatly draw images. What I personally like about his work is the use of colour and the particular images in which he represents because they are odd and don't really communicate direct messages but the colours in which he uses are always bright and evoke positive emotions. A lot of his work has influenced some of the piece in which I created based on aesthetic and medium, his work is based on the idea of Juxtaposition which is "the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect." each piece involves a clash of multiple images with in one scene which work against one another based on their placement and the fact of what they represent e.g. The girl above holding the traffic light with in the country side makes sense because of the issue to do with the cows crossing the road, but you would never find really find traffic lights in the country side.
