PPP Research 4

The Avengers Age of Ultron is a great film that involves a lot of CGI and special animated effects with the camera. This makes the superhero's like Hulk feel real and emotional, these animated elements are what make this film epic.

I watched Gundam-Wing when I was a child and as I could remember it a great mecha anime which involved a lot of explosions which and highly intense action, the fight scenes where that of something form a transformers film. I like the animation mainly for the details on the robots along with shine and shade to make the robots look like they are real and fully functional.

Another mecha anime I watched called Big O, this was similar to Gundam-Wing mainly for its concept and story plot relating to gigantic robots. The story concept was alright in areas but but as exciting and live as Gundam-Wing, though what I loved about the anime was the designing of the characters and the way the robot was piloted.

Great Teach Onizuka is an hilarious anime that tell the story of Gang member turned teacher struggles to make his way in teaching pupils at school he struggles to get many simple things right but always find a way to come up with an idea. I like this anime for its hilarious scenes, Onizuka pulls the most funniest faces like above which makes me laugh all the time.

Kappa mikey leaves me speechless, it is what type of animation I imagined my self creating. I say this because I have always imagined creating an animation that merges different styles of animation together e.g. cartoon with Anime almost like the Amazing world of gumball. I love it for the reason of merging different styles, it makes it feel like more is going on and the animation is not just one dimensional. It is based on a Group of superhero's almost like a fantastic four

Animating in photoshop was not easy to understand until I looked into tutorial and practiced in photoshop my self, I prefer to draw traditionally and place the drawings into photoshop and colour them because I feel it is easier to create an animation with good motion and I think it improves the quality of your drawing by far based on the tools it possess.

Flip book animation is very enjoyable because it allows you to be free in animating, it is traditional and fun. It works like an normal animation and allows you to test animation but develop your skills in animating. This was the first methodI learnt and it helped me understand the 12 principles through practicing.

Beavis and Butt-head is a classic, full of jokes and classic comedy they always get into trouble and are made to look very stupid, this is shown through voice and commentary. I personally like it for the jokes, physic and build of the characters.

Maya is a very good package, I have mainly practiced modelling characters in this package and have enjoyed using it but I feel that I prefer traditionally drawing 2D the package is complicated but this tutorial allowed me to practice moving, modelling and stretching an object. I mainly referred to this because it allowed me to develop and understanding when using this package and gave be grasp of how to model and the basics of modelling. The tutorial talks you through giving your character a body and a walking cycle.

Gravity Rush is a very intense game it is anime inspired and the main character is a female witch called cat who can levitate in society with no gravity which allows her to float and walk comfortably up walls she has special powers and is on a mission around her own town to destroy all evil. The graphics of the game are very clear and characters are well designed the game play is almost like anime series.

Excellent game with nicely designed characters it has a very interesting plot and the graphics are great the powers you are able to use are varied and the concept of having the ability to take any power is what makes the game exciting and intense. The main character looks very realistic in appearance and almost resembles a living person with interaction and feelings.

I think devil may cry is a very good game the characters are very anime resembling but they look more real than animated, the powers the characters possess and the gameplay its self is very interesting but makes the even more exciting to play.

At first using after effects was hard but I got used to understanding the basic once I had a tutorial I have watched videos like the one above and have begun to understand what this package is capable of, I my self have recently found out how to use a bone structure tool in After effects which allows you to create joints for your characters to help them move freely. This video talk you through the basics of using the bone structure tool basically.

Samurai Champloo I think is one of the best anime's I have watched so far, its highly influenced by Hiphop culture both in music and style the characters are always funny and the story plot is interesting and jam packed full of excitement. I like the style of the animation and the way it uses historical facts to tell a story, it almost feels like the writer has time travelled into the past.

Samurai Jack was and exciting animated cartoon  I used to watch growing up as a child I liked the designing of the characters and the way they were presented. The fight scenes were always epic and intense, I was inspired by the drawing style and used to practice sketching Samurai jack based on my love of the cartoon.

Boondocks is one of my all time favourites mainly for its black representation. Boondocks highlights political issues and draws a relation to modern day society which makes the animation funny based on your understanding of the joke and the relation of it to me a a black person in modern day society. The characters are nicely developed by an artist I love called lesean Thomas.

My favourite animation technique to use is traditional mainly for it being a highly used technique through time and I regard this as easier of creating animation but very challenging in developing seconds and time because it takes longer but I personally think that more motion and feeling is achieved through drawing characters and it runs realistically.

Dragonball Z is a child hood cartoon which I loved to watch mainly for its difference to other animes in style, it possessed a style I had never seen before and I liked the appearance of character their muscles are defined. The whole concept of the supersaiyan powers I thought was very interesting and new in approach, the whole monkey transformation  was very weird and funny at times, the animation was always smooth.

Rave master was another childhood cartoon I enjoyed it was mainly about boy discovering a magical, mystical and historical sword and embarking on a journey to use the sword it self to restore piece. The sword used to transform, it was interesting because when the sword changed form it changed its powered element e.g. fire to water. the way the characters were developed like any anime character but they were presented more as soft anime characters for children rather than adults or teens. This was done through the enlargement of eyes and body proportion of the characters were enlarged which could be seen as a funny example of the animation.

Tekken is a very well made game with nicely designed characters, the game keeps getting more realistic, they almost remind me of real people, the detail is amazing and the fighting styles are very close to real martial art moves. I think the creator has focused greatly on the characters names, appearances and characteristics.

Boy makes bad throw

This is my animation for my final ppp submission I have focused on one of my weaknesses which is squash and stretch in the attempt to develop an animation which demonstrates that I am able to develop an animation that uses the 12 principles correctly in relation to the movement.

Absorb, Research, Disseminate and Reflect

This is a storyboarding of my dreams, ambitions and progression through the animation course I have drawn inspiration from a animated music video by one of my favourite experimental hiphop artist's Flying Lotus. I like drawing using patterns and have currently developed my own style of drawing that involves thick lines and cross hatching, so I have decided to put it to use by telling the story of my minds journey involving the further development and the understanding of animation. I have chosen to use patterns as a form of after because I feel shapes bring a form of excitement due to the amount going on at the same time, this leaves your eyes to concentrate on so much and can leave you mesmerised.
